Selection Process
- Selection for M.Sc. programmes will be based on Amrita Entrance Examination as well as personal interview.
- Those who are appearing for the final examinations of Bachelor’s degrees can also apply, and would be eligible for Provisional Admission.
- An intimation letter specifying the date, time, venue of the interview and original certificates to be presented for verification will be sent to the candidates.
- The final rank list of provisionally selected candidates will be announced at the School of Biotechnology notice board as well as the website http://biotech.amrita.edu. The selected candidates will be notified by mail/telephone.

Admit Card and Identification
- Admit Card should be produced at the Registration/Verification counter on the day of exam.
- No Candidate will be allowed to appear for the Entrance Examination without a valid Admit Card. In the Examination hall, candidate should produce the Admit Card when requested by the invigilator.
- Admit Card will be sent to the candidates 25 days before the Entrance Examination, mentioning the candidate’s roll number, exam date, time and venue of examination. If you do not receive the Admit Card at least 10 days before the scheduled date of the Entrance Examination, please call 0476-2801280, on working days between 9 A.M and 5 P.M.
- In the event that you arrive for the Entrance Examination without your Admit Card due to a genuine emergency, and if your name appears in our list of candidates, duplicate admit cards may be issued at the discretion of the Dean/Admission Coordinator.

Entrance Examination Guidelines (M.Sc. programmes)
- Candidates shall be present at the examination hall 15 minutes before the commencement of the examination. Candidates will not be allowed to appear for the examination without producing an Admit Card.
- Candidates must bring black ball-point pen, HB pencils, Sharpener and Eraser.
- Candidates shall occupy their respective allotted seats.
- Under no circumstances should any candidate be allowed to enter the exam hall 15 minutes after the commencement of the examination.
- Candidates will not be allowed to carry any text material, printed or written bits of paper, mathematical and physical tables, electronic gadgets like calculator, cell phone etc, into the examination hall.
- Read carefully the instructions on the question booklet before answering the questions and fill up the required details.
- Candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination hall before the end of the examination.
- Candidates should hand over the answer sheet and the question booklet to the invigilator before leaving the examination hall.
- Any malpractice or attempt to commit malpractice in the examination hall or any violation of the rules will lead to disqualification of the candidate.
- If a candidate tampers, mutilates or damages the answer sheet, he/she will be disqualified and his/ her candidature will be cancelled.
- The candidate should not do any rough work on the answer sheet. All rough work should be done in the question booklet.
- Two minutes before the commencement of the examination, the invigilator will announce to open the question booklet. Do not open/break the seal before the announcement.
- Handle the answer sheet carefully; no spare answer sheet will be given.
Important points to note :
- All candidates who have applied for the M.Sc. programmes, including Management, NRI, PIO, Foreign nationals should appear for the Entrance Examination.
- After the evaluation of Entrance Examination answer sheets, candidates will be shortlisted for the interview on the same day itself.
- All shortlisted candidates qualifying for the Entrance Examination must attend the interview which will be conducted on the same day for the first 25 to 30 candidates. The rest of the shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on the day after the Entrance Examination.
- Selection for M.Sc. Biotechnology programme will be based on both Entrance Examination and interview.
