Research Interests:
Our laboratory is mainly interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of exocytosis, endocytosis and the intrinsic transporter activity of GLUT4, an insulin resposnsive facilitated glucose transporter that plays a crucial role in regulating the blood glucose homeostasis. Several studies have clearly linked the importance of GLUT4 in preventing the insulin resistance, the inability of the cell to respond to the normal levels of body insulin and is the hallmark of type 2 diabetes.
