Our Vision

The Vision of the School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is to actively pioneer interdisciplinary education, research and industry collaboration in Biotechnology. The School will strive to advance research, generate affordable preventive & therapeutic innovations to stimulate industrial growth and improve the human condition.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham

Inspired by Her Holiness Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi or Amma, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, is one of the youngest institutions to be conferred the status of “University u/s 3 of UGC act 1956” and provides students with an outstanding education in multiple disciplines over several campuses (More about Amrita Institution) It is one of the most sought after Amrita Institutions by top-ranking students from all parts of the country as well as abroad. The faculty and management are dedicated to creating and sustaining an atmosphere that will facilitate the full blossoming of the innate potential of the students and the development of their personality. Furthermore, the multi-disciplinary character of Amrita Institutions facilitates synergy amongst the different disciplines, enabling each to derive maximum benefit from the expertise of the others.

The Amrita Institutions have launched many new projects of national importance and scientific relevance. One such land-mark partnership is the academic collaboration between leading American universities with Indian universities led by Amrita Institutions to enhance science and engineering education in India over a new satellite e-learning network (EDUSAT). Amrita School of Biotechnology

Located in the Amritapuri Campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, The Amrita School of Biotechnology which was founded in September 2004, has already established its presence as a preferred institution of higher learning in the field of Biotechnology in the short time it has been in existence.
The School offers Undergraduate programmes in Biotechnology and Microbiology as well as Postgraduate programmes in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. A Ph.D. program has also been initiated, aiming to generate researchers who could be competent in carrying out biotech research projects having the highest societal impact. The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under it’s “Mission Reach” programme (Learn More about Mission Reach ) selected The School of Biotechnology to be a “Center of Relevance and Excellence”(CORE) in Biomedical Technology with a research program concentrating on preventative and therapeutic innovations. The cutting edge curricula along with state-of –the-art facilities of the School will provide a solid foundation in the biological sciences. In addition, the dedicated, experienced faculty compromised of several Ph.D.’s with many years of research experience, who are qualified professionals recruited from academia and industry, offer students an opportunity to advance and succeed in in their biotech career.
