Biopulse'07 - Third Anniversary Celebrations

The Amrita School of Biotechnology proudly celebrated its 3rd anniversary on the 8th of Sept.2007. The annual celebration called ‘Biopulse’ was inaugurated by Poojya Swamiji Amritaswarupananda Puri who is one of the foremost disciples of Amma, in addition to being the president of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. The morning session was initiated by prayers & lighting of the lamp by Swamiji followed by the Welcome address by Dr. Bipin Nair and the Vice Chancellor’s address by Dr. P. Venkat Rangan. Swamiji then proceeded to give a very enlightening talk on human values and the morning session was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Anil Kumar.

After a brief tea break, the formal scientific session began with a thought provoking and dynamic Panel discussion focusing on ‘Science and Technology in India’ with Dr. Shrikumar Suryanarayan, President, R&D, Biocon, providing expertise from the industry, Dr. Anand Patwardhan, Executive Director, TIFAC, as an expert from the Government and Dr. P.Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, focusing on the University angle.

After the lunch break the students of the School presented an excellent & varied scientific session comprising of interesting presentations, lively debates and quiz. The evening tea break was followed by a sparkling cultural program complete with dances, skits, music & variety entertainment which provided a fitting and successful end to the day.
